    It is my pleasure and honour to welcome the first batch of autonomy to the Department of First Year at the G.H.Raisoni Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur.

    The two key objectives of the department are to maintain high academic standards and to give due weightage to practical work. The department has a fine blend of experienced as well as young and dynamic faculties, who are involved in imparting quality education. The Department organizes interactive lectures by inviting experts from academic field and industries for the overall development of students. Departmental forum has been established by the students for the extracurricular activities. This forum conducts various technical and cultural events regularly.

Our Laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabus but to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which definitely develops complete knowledge of the subject and develop skill sets of students to become promising engineers in future.     The graduates of the department will attain ability to:

    • Engineering Knowlegde: Apply the knowledge of Mathematics, Science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
    • Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences ,and engineering sciences.
    • Design or Development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

    Course Description

    An Engineering degree in Computer Science is a ticket to the highest paying jobs with never-ending opportunities. Innumerable companies associated with the Information Technology sector are in continuous look out for computer professionals in India and overseas office. This can be a lot attributed to the proficiency which the students have in India, in this particular field.

    For open candidate-
    Candidate must have 50% aggregate percentage in HSSC.

    For category candidate-
    Candidate must have 45% aggregate percentage in HSSC.

    For either of the candidature the applicant must have appeared in Entrance exams of MHCET and JEE Mains with a non zero score.

    A plethora of job opportunities awaits the students after the completion of an Engineering degree in Computer Science
    • Software Developer- Software developers are professionals who are associated with facades of the software development process. It includes design, coding, computer programming and project management to name a few.
    • System Designer- It is the responsibility of these engineers to pursue system designing, logical & Physical designing. The Logical Designing involves output, input, files, database and procedure which are a part of a structure and characteristics.
    • Hardware Engineers- The professionals in this field are involved in research, development, designing of the computer hardware. It at the same time includes computer chips, system modems, printers, circuit boards, keyboards and printers working as a part of the installation of the hardware of the computer.
    • System Analyst- The professionals in this field are involved in pursuing research about the prevalent troubles/problems. They are also responsible for jotting down a plan to find out the solution of the problem. Recommendation of software also comes under their job profile. The coordination of development between the business development teams is also their responsibility.
    • Networking engineers- these professional have the responsibility of designing, implementing and troubleshooting of computer networks.
    • Database Administrator- these professionals are given responsibility of designing, implementing, maintaining and repairing of the database of their organization. This position is also known by other names like Database Coordinator or Database Programmer in the Information Technology sector.

    About Department

    Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering started in the year 2008 with an intake of 60 students for undergraduate programme. The intake was increased to 120 seats in 2014. The department is accredited by NAAC AICTE in 2013 for 3 Years. The department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering also has PG programme, M Tech (VLSI) established in 2011 with an intake of 18. The research areas of the department cover Networking, Digital Image Processing, Digital Video Processing, Wireless Network, etc.

    The Department of Electronics & Telecommunication offers B. E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and M. Tech. in VLSI Engineering. The department has well qualified, experienced and committed faculty to provide quality industry tuned education to the students. The Department Infrastructure fulfils the requirements of academics, supports research and learning skills on the latest technology in the industry. Their search culture among the students is harnessed at the UG and PG level. The UG programme was started in 2008 with an intake capacity of 60 students.

    The goal of the department is to provide the students with a techno-excellent education in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication. The introduction of this branch into the engineering scenario emphasizes on the study of basic electronics as well as the ever changing telecommunication field. More focus is emphasized on the practical learning, projects and research. The students of the department get into the industry through placements majorly and there is a high inclination towards entrepreneurship and research. The department is supported by a large alumni group. Students are introduced to global challenges and encouraged to take up projects in this direction.

    Technology and Electronics make the most amazing combination. It can be attributed to a plethora of aspects that have been observed in the present era. There is an immense growth in the field of technology and there is that rising significance of electronics. This field has a lot to study, get informed about and pursue practical application. And, the scopes are enormous.

    The work responsibility of Electronics & Telecommunication engineer comprises of designing of a variety of telecommunication equipments. These include switches, routers, modems and radio links. The fields which require them involve Telephony, Paging, mobile communication, internet, email, e-commerce and the list continues. The fact is that there is no limit to the application and capacity of this particular branch of Engineering.
